My favourite bridge memory

My Favourite Bridge Memory

Barry and Maggie have been together since student days. They married after college then spent 20 years of military life where they were both introduced to social bridge: Barry on a military exercise in a German forest by the General saying “Watts come with me. We need a fourth” After living around Europe and many other parts of the world, they settled into the beautiful Dorset countryside. The first thing Maggie did was start a bridge club in the local community and an annual competition for local clubs. For the last 30 years they have been active members of several local bridge clubs; both face to face and online. they have both been committee members and are committed to the enjoyment of the game of Bridge.

In their working lives both were responsible for teaching and professional development so both enjoy teaching bridge. On retirement Maggie taught Bridge for Beginners at her local U3A and found it most rewarding. Barry is an experienced EBU Director and has given holiday seminars at various times.

For the past 14 years they have worked as holiday bridge Hosts all over Europe. They are experienced at working with the holiday and hotel managements to welcome and support guests. They work to encourage a friendly environment where everyone on the holiday, including single players, are welcomed and treated equally. Both are committed to helping holiday guests become a group of friends enjoying their time and their Bridge together.
