My favourite bridge memory

My Favourite Bridge Memory

Listening to our bridge host trying to convince two young sales assistants in Croatia, who had been looking avidly through the bridge room window from their shop across the street all week that his guests were NOT speed dating but playing bridge, each time they got up and moved tables.

Val grew up in Bath, but as soon as she was old enough to pursue her travel career, she was off spending her youth escorting coach tours throughout Europe in the summer and working as a ski representative during the winter months. She finally settled in South Wales but continued her fulfilling career, dedicating over 25 years to organising bridge holidays both overseas and in the UK.

Hosting style

Val loves meeting guests on their bridge holidays.  She explains "talking to our guests and understanding what they enjoy and need from their holiday helps me do my job better".

Other hobbies and interests

Val is passionate about travel and learning languages and has been fortunate enough to have had a lifelong career that has indulged her interests. When home her border collie keeps her fit, walking her miles across the sand dunes.

She would love to play bridge but unfortunately juggling a full-time career which involves intensive travelling, along with raising two sons, and now having an energetic 2-year-old grandson in her life have kept her from learning the game.

A fun fact about Val

Growing up as “Little Val” she though she’d outgrown the nickname - until meeting her partner, Scottish Andy, who dubbed her “Wee Val.”
